Empowering youth through basketball since 2015
The Carolina Knights Basketball Association (CKBA) is a nonprofit organization based in Sumter, South Carolina, dedicated to empowering young athletes through the game of basketball. Since our founding in 2015, we have provided boys and girls aged 12-18 with opportunities to develop their skills, build character, and gain valuable life experiences—both on and off the court.
Our program is built on the core values of teamwork, perseverance, leadership, and community service. We believe that basketball is more than just a game; it’s a tool for shaping future leaders and instilling lifelong values. Through mentorship, competitive play, and a family-oriented culture, we prepare our athletes not only for success in sports but also for success in life.
Since its founding, the Carolina Knights have achieved remarkable success, including winning numerous tournaments and championships. In 2024, we proudly brought home the National Travel Basketball Association (NTBA) National Championship, cementing our reputation for excellence, hard work, and competitive spirit.
OUR FOUNDER
CKBA was founded by John Butler, a proud U.S. Army veteran who served his country for 22 years. A lifelong basketball enthusiast, John played throughout his youth, including at East Clarendon Middle/High School in Turbeville, SC, and on numerous Army teams during his military career.
With a deep passion for the game and a commitment to giving back, John established the Carolina Knights to create a positive and supportive environment where young athletes could grow, compete, and reach their full potential.
